Asteroid Belt
- The asteroid belt is found between the two planets of mars and Jupiter and is an approximate length of 180 kilometres wide.
- The asteroid belt is 404 million kilometres away from the sun.
- Because there is so many asteroids in the belt it is hard to find the overall mass of the field but one of the asteroids in it is Ceres. Ceres mass compared to earth is 0.0158% of earths mass. The surface type that surrounds Ceres is thin, dusty dark and a hard rocky core in the middle.
- is not known if any of the asteroids in the belt have an atmosphere but the closest scientist think is Ceres. It has 4% of the gravity that earth has and has a small layer of ozone surrounding it. Some of the asteroids have small moons surrounding them .
- 1.It is located between Mars and Jupiter.
2.Has many minor planets but shaped irregularly.
3.The asteroids are mostly composed of rock.
4.All of the asteroids are spaced very far apart.
5.All of the asteroids weight together is less that the weight of the moon.
